Recurring entries
The Recurring tab holds postings that repeat on their own schedule — rent, subscriptions, salaries, anything that happens on the same terms every month, quarter or year. Like the journal, the tab follows the asset selected in the top bar: it lists the templates of that asset only, and a new template belongs to it. In the combined view it lists the templates of every selected asset, and a new template asks which asset it belongs to.
Recurring tab
Each row shows the description, account, cadence, next posting date, the signed amount (income shows +, expense shows −), and:
- Run now — posts the rule immediately, outside its schedule. Asks you to confirm first.
- Active switch — turn a template off without deleting it; a paused template never posts, on schedule or manually.
Creating or editing a template
Click New rule, or click a row to edit it.
- Type — Income or Expense.
- Description.
- Account — filtered to accounts of the chosen type. Type in the field to filter it; the search matches the account code as well as its name.
- Department — a filterable picker fed by the company's configured departments.
- Cadence — Monthly, Quarterly, or Yearly, plus the day of the month it posts on.
- Next posting — the date it will next run.
- Amount per posting.
- VAT rate.
- Paid via — the payment method, which decides the contra account the same way it does when booking an entry by hand; the dialog shows you which account that resolves to.
- Post automatically — on: each due date posts straight to the ledger. Off: each due date creates a draft instead, for someone to review and post themselves. Such a draft is an ordinary draft: its amount, VAT rate and account can still be changed before it's posted, and its posting lines are recomputed accordingly.
Note: Templates only start posting once the bookkeeping start date is set (see Getting started). A Next posting date that lies before the start date is moved forward to the first due date on or after it — nothing is ever posted for the time before the ledger began.
A preview line at the bottom of the dialog shows exactly how the row will read in the list once you save. To remove a template you're editing, click Delete.
Starting one from an entry you're already booking
While booking a manual entry, the Make recurring button in its footer hands the form you've just filled in — type, description, account, department, method, amount, VAT rate — straight over to a new recurring template, pre-filled. Nothing is posted by the entry dialog itself; you land in the recurring dialog to confirm the cadence and save it.
