Online check-in
Requires the Online check-in module, turned on under Settings: Modules.
Who can access this: the main guest only, once the booking is ready.
Online check-in lets the main guest complete arrival formalities before setting foot at the property — and once submitted, it checks the booking in exactly as reception would, with an ETA, a signed registration form, and a tourist-tax choice on record. It opens from the Start check-in button on the Overview tab.
When it unlocks
The check-in card stays Locked until every one of these is true:
| Check | What it means |
|---|---|
| Guest form for every traveller | All guest forms on the booking are confirmed |
| Payments settled | No blocking balance is open (the tourist tax itself doesn't block check-in — it's always settled on site, see below) |
| ID details on file | The required identity fields are present |
| Arrival day reached | It's the arrival day, from the property's configured opening time (08:00 by default — see Settings: Modules) |
While locked, the card lists which of these are still outstanding. Once every check passes, the card switches to Unlocked and the guest can start.

The three steps
Online check-in dialog, step 2
Review details — the guest reviews the data that goes on the official registration form: date of birth, passport number, and nationality for every traveller, with an Edit shortcut back to the guest form if something needs fixing.
Arrival & signature — the guest picks an arrival-time slot (before a set time, a midday window, an evening window, or after a late cut-off), sees the tourist tax amount with a note that it's paid on site, and signs the registration form. Signing works two ways:
- Draw a signature with a mouse, finger, or pen.
- Type your name instead — the guest types their full name, which is rendered as the signature image. This gives keyboard-only guests, and anyone without a pointing device, a way to complete check-in.
A checkbox confirms the guest accepts the house rules and safety regulations and will show ID at first contact with reception.
Access — a confirmation screen ("Checked in") with the room number, arrival time, and check-out time, plus a QR code the guest can show at reception. The same access details are also sent by e-mail and stay available in the portal afterwards — the guest doesn't need to keep the QR code as their only copy.
What happens on the server side
Completing check-in sets the booking to the same checked-in state a staff check-in would, and stores the ETA, the tourist-tax choice, and the signed registration form (with a signing timestamp) against the booking for your records — exactly as if reception had processed it at the desk. There is no door-code integration; the QR code is for reception to scan or verify, not to unlock a room.
Note: Tourist tax at check-in is always settled on site — there is no "pay tourist tax online now" option in the check-in dialog, regardless of your payment settings. See Known limitations.
