Dive integration
The Shift Plan and the Dive module share the same staff records, so the roster and dive scheduling work hand in hand: dive pickers show who is actually rostered, and staffing a trip can write the missing shift back into the plan.
Off-shift staff are labeled, not hidden
With the Shift Plan module on, the guide and crew pickers in the Dive module (boat dispatch, trip dialogs, and the dive log) still offer all active staff — but anyone who is not on shift during the trip's or dive's time window is labeled not on shift. On shift means a Confirmed or Requested shift overlapping the date and time; staff on sick leave don't count.
So you can always see at a glance whether the person you're about to assign is actually rostered — without the roster ever blocking an assignment.
Assigning off-shift staff requests the shift
When you save a trip or a dive with off-shift staff assigned — the lead guide, crew members, or group guides — Gurita automatically creates a Requested shift in the Shift Plan for each of them, covering exactly the trip's (or dive's) time window. A message such as "2 shift requests created in the shift plan" confirms it.
The requested shifts appear on the Roster as dashed chips, where a planner can review and confirm them like any other request. Once requested, the person counts as on shift for that window — assigning them again won't create duplicates.
Note: If a requested shift can't be created — for example because the person has a sick shift in that window — the assignment still goes through; only the roster entry is skipped.
Trips on the roster
The relationship runs the other way too: scheduled dive trips appear as read-only trip chips on the roster (see The Roster), so a planner can see the boat schedule alongside who's working.
Who can access this
No extra permission — this is automatic wherever the Dive module's guide/crew pickers appear, whenever the Shift Plan module is active. Managing trips and dives requires the usual Dive permissions.
