Boat Dispatch
Route: /dive/overview → Boat dispatch tab
Boat dispatch is where a dive day is planned and run: every boat is a lane on a timeline, every trip is a block on it, and the selected trip's drawer holds the manifest — who's going, who's checked in, which guide and crew are on. It replaces the older Dive Schedule page.
Boat dispatch timeline with a trip selected and its drawer open
The timeline
Each dive boat (see Reference Catalogues) is a lane, marked with the boat's color; trips render as blocks in that color across the hours of the day. Click a block to select it and open its drawer. Completed trips turn grey and get a check mark. Use the header's date controls to plan any day; the Load board toggle switches to a per-trip capacity view — one card per trip with a fill bar of booked spots against the boat's capacity.
On a desktop you can also work directly on the timeline:
- Drag on empty lane space to create a trip with that boat and time range pre-filled.
- Drag a block (or its edges) to move or resize a trip; the change saves on release.
Note: Two trips on the same boat can't overlap — back-to-back is fine. The timeline refuses conflicting drags, and saving a conflicting trip shows "Overlapping trips on the same boat are not allowed."
Trips
Add trip (or a drag on the timeline) opens the trip dialog:
| Field | Notes |
|---|---|
| Boat | Required — the lane the trip lives on |
| Date, Departure / Return | The trip's window, in 30-minute steps |
| Dives | The trip's dive segments — each with a site, dive type, and optional start time |
| Lead guide, Crew | Who runs the trip. With the Shift Plan active, staff not rostered for the window are labeled not on shift — assigning them requests the shift automatically |
Copy trip duplicates the selected trip to another day or departure time (the manifest resets to Pending). Trips can be cancelled from the drawer's menu; cancelled trips don't block the boat.
The trip drawer
Selecting a trip opens its drawer:
- Capacity — booked spots against the boat's capacity, plus Checked in and Open spots counters.
- Lead guide and Crew — quick pickers; Add crew appends more staff.
- Divers — the manifest. Add diver offers every in-house guest of the day (see the Divers tab); each row carries the diver's status — Pending → Checked in → On board, or No-show — plus their tank size, air mix, and rental gear (or Own gear), all editable inline.
- Notes / comments — the trip's comment feed (also mirrored on the workspace's Comments tab).
Drag a diver's row onto another trip block in the timeline to move them to that trip — booked items that belong to the diver move along.
Full manifest opens the trip as a full-page manifest — hero header, capacity statistics, crew list, and the complete diver table — which is also the view to work from on a tablet at the jetty.
Completing a trip
When the boat is back, click Complete trip. Gurita then:
- Creates one dive log entry per dive segment (and per dive group, if you split the divers into groups) with every non-no-show diver, their tank/air, and their rental gear.
- Marks the trip Completed — it turns grey on the timeline and can no longer be edited.
Those dive logs are what count toward each guest's history, package usage, billing, and the dive statistics.
Tip: Completing is idempotent — if some logs already exist (for example after a partial completion), they're skipped, not duplicated.
Printing
Print on the drawer produces the trip manifest PDF from the configured print template — a Dive Trip Manifest template is set up automatically the first time the module runs. Templates can be adjusted under Settings → Mail Templates.
Who can access this: Requires the Dive plans permission. Visible when the Dive Log module is active.
