The Occupancy Timeline
The Occupancy Timeline is a drag-and-drop view of the resort booking calendar: every room is a row, every day a column, and each stay is a bar you can pick up and move. It answers "who is where, and what's free?" at a glance, and turns a room move or a date change into a single drag. Front desk and reservations teams use it side by side with the classic table view — the two are one click apart.
Who can access this: The timeline is a view of the booking calendar described in Creating a booking, so it needs the Bookings permission. It appears on Resort assets when the Occupancy Timeline module is active (an Advanced-plan module — see Active Modules). Agency logins always see the classic calendar.

Switching between Timeline and Classic
Use the Timeline / Classic button in the calendar's toolbar to switch styles at any time. Your choice is remembered per device, so the front-desk terminal can stay on the timeline while the back office keeps the classic table. When the module is active and no choice has been made yet, the timeline is the default. Both styles create bookings the same way.
Reading the timeline
- Each bar is one room's stay for one booking; its label shows the guest.
- Today is highlighted, and weekends are tinted with their day labels in red, so a week's rhythm is visible even when zoomed out. Date-tagged events colour their day header.
- A small check-in icon at the right edge of a bar means those guests are checked in — the stay can still be extended, but its arrival and room are fixed (see below).
- The search field filters the room list as you type — handy in a large house when you just want one wing or room type on screen.
Creating a booking from the timeline
Drag across free days in a room's row to select exactly those dates, repeat for more rooms if needed, then use the selection bar at the bottom — Create Booking, Create Reservation, or Create Offer — exactly as in the classic view. The steps and fields are the same as in Creating a booking.
Moving and resizing a stay
- Drag the middle of a bar to move the booking — to another room, other dates, or both at once.
- Drag a bar's edge to extend or shorten the stay.
- Checked-in stays keep their room and arrival fixed: only the departure edge can be dragged, and never to before today.
- If a bar won't move at all, its booking is in a state that can't be changed from the calendar (for example, already resolved) — open the booking itself instead.
When you drop a bar, Gurita applies the change to the booking. The usual rules still apply: the target range must be free, and conflicts are handled as described in Availability & overbooking.
Warning: Dragging here changes the real booking — it is the same as editing the booking's rooms and dates. There is no sandbox mode.

The toolbar

Tip: On phones and small screens the toolbar folds into a single menu (⋮) with the same controls, and the timeline stays fully usable — including drag and drop.
