Apps and downloads
Gurita runs in a web browser, and everything in this guide works there. For work that happens away from the desk — on the boat, on the housekeeping round, behind the bar — there are also companion apps you install on a phone, tablet or computer. They connect to the same Gurita system as the browser, so they show the same data and use the same accounts and permissions.
Who can access this: Any user with a Gurita account can sign in to an app. What an app shows depends on the modules active on your plan and your own permissions, exactly as in the browser.
Note — the apps are not in the stores yet. They are listed here so you can plan for them. The download links on the Apps & downloads page switch from Coming soon to live links as each app is published. Gurita Diving for Android is already available as a beta through Google Play testing: open its Google Play link on the Apps & downloads page and join the test.
The apps
| App | What it is for | Platforms |
|---|---|---|
| Gurita Diving | The dive day at the jetty and on the boat: dispatch, dive-center guests, boats and the dive log. | iPhone & iPad, Android, macOS, Windows |
| Gurita Housekeeping | A maid's own task list on a phone, with progress showing live on the Housekeeping board. | iPhone & iPad, Android, macOS, Windows |
| Gurita POS | The point-of-sale counter as an installed app for tablets and counter PCs, with receipt printing. | iPhone & iPad, Android, macOS, Windows |
Gurita Diving
Gurita Diving has five sections in its bottom bar: Dispatch, Guests, Boats, Logs and Settings. Dispatch covers the divers, the boat assignments and the comments for the day. Guests lists the dive-center guests, Boats the vessels, and Logs the dive log. Settings is where you switch asset and manage dive sites, dive types and the app itself.
Sections you do not have permission for, or whose module is not active, are hidden — the same rules as in the browser. See Dive operations for what each area does.
Note: The Dispatch section needs Boat Dispatch to be enabled for your company. If it is not, the app says so instead of showing an empty screen — ask your Gurita contact to enable it.
Gurita Housekeeping
Gurita Housekeeping puts the maid view on a phone: the day's rooms in order, one task at a time. It needs the Housekeeping module and the housekeeping permissions described in Housekeeping. Until the app is published, maids use the same view in the browser — see The maid view.
Gurita POS
Gurita POS is the POS counter for a tablet or a counter PC: products, tables and open bills, in-house guests and customer search, a sold-today report, and receipt printing to a network printer. It needs the POS module and POS permissions — see Point of sale.
Installing an app
- Open the Apps & downloads page and pick the app and your platform — the App Store for iPhone and iPad, Google Play for Android, or the macOS or Windows download for a computer.
- Install the app the usual way for your device.
Signing in for the first time
Every app asks for the same three things the first time you open it.
- Connect to Gurita — enter the System URL, the address you use for Gurita in the browser (for example
https://reef.gurita.app), and tap Connect. You only do this once per device. - Sign in — use your normal Gurita email and password.
- Set a PIN — choose a PIN and enter it again under Confirm PIN. The PIN protects your account on this device and lets you get back in quickly.
After that, the app opens with a Choose account screen and asks for your PIN instead of your password.
Tip: Several staff can share one device. Each person signs in once and sets their own PIN; afterwards everyone picks their name under Choose account and enters their PIN. This is the recommended setup for a shared tablet at the jetty or the bar.
Working with a weak connection
The apps keep a copy of the data they need on the device, so they stay usable when the connection drops — on the boat, in a basement laundry, at the far end of the beach bar. A marker at the top of the screen shows when the app is offline. Changes made while offline are sent to Gurita once the device is back online.
Using Gurita without an app
You do not need any of the apps to use Gurita. On an iPad or iPhone, open Gurita in Safari, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen — Gurita then opens full-screen like an app. See System requirements for supported browsers and devices.
