What's New in Gurita — The Big Half-Year Roundup
Catch-up edition: everything we shipped from mid-January to July 2026 (versions 2.3.897 → 2.5.x). From now on, you'll hear from us every two weeks.
The last six months were the busiest in Gurita's history. We gave the booking calendar its biggest upgrade ever, rebuilt the point of sale from the ground up, made invoicing flexible enough for even the trickiest group bookings, added WhatsApp messaging, a full restaurant inventory, transfer planning, and much more. Here's the tour — grab a coffee.
The new timeline calendar
The heart of your day, reimagined. The booking calendar now has a timeline view: every room in a row, every day in a column, and all your bookings laid out as bars in between — the whole property on one screen.
- Drag and drop — move a booking to another room or another date by simply dragging it; drag its edge to extend or shorten the stay.
- Zoom and density — from a tight bird's-eye view of the whole resort to a comfortable detail view, with compact rows for busy houses.
- Find anything fast — search as you type, jump to any month, hit the Today button, or go fullscreen for the front-desk screen.
- Works on mobile too, and the classic calendar view stays one click away while your team makes the switch.
Split invoices your way — with Folios
One booking, several payers? Until now that meant manual workarounds. With Folios you simply drag charges into separate folders: the company pays room and breakfast, the guest pays the bar tab, the agency covers the transfer. Each folio becomes its own invoice, totals always add up to the booking total, and once a folio is issued it's locked — so nothing changes behind your back after the invoice has left the house.
Take a payment in one step
Recording money is quicker now. The payment dialog has been redesigned — cleaner, faster, fewer clicks — and it does two jobs at once: you record a payment and allocate it to the right invoice in a single step, instead of taking it first and assigning it afterwards. Hit Save, and the money is already where it belongs.
A brand-new Point of Sale
Your bar and restaurant get a completely redesigned POS counter — faster, cleaner, and built for touch:
- Floor plan with tables — set up your locations and tables (seats, colors, reservations). Bills stick to their table, so any staff member can pick up where a colleague left off.
- Split bills in seconds when guests want to pay separately, move items or whole bills between tables, and apply discounts per item or per bill.
- Charge to room — transfer a bar bill onto the guest's booking with one tap; it appears on their final invoice automatically.
- Daily reports with export, right in the POS.
The new counter is optional — you can switch between classic and new at any time while your team gets comfortable.
Kitchen & bar inventory, done properly
- Ingredients with batches and expiry dates — track stock the way your kitchen actually works: first in, first out, with allergens, storage locations, suppliers, and preparation loss factored in.
- Recipe products — define a cocktail or dish once as a recipe. Sell a mojito, and the mint, rum, and lime are deducted automatically.
- Live availability in the POS — when the ingredients for a dish run out, the POS knows and stops you from selling it.
- Consumption reports show what your kitchen and bar actually use, so purchasing gets easier.
Transfer planning
Airport pickups, boat shuttles, day trips — now planned inside Gurita instead of on a whiteboard:
- Manage vehicles (with seat capacity), pickup locations, and multi-stop routes, including reusable route templates.
- Add guests straight from their booking, track per-guest status, and assign drivers and staff.
- Gurita warns you about conflicts — a double-booked vehicle or overlapping times — before they happen.
- Print a driver manifest as PDF, and merge overlapping transfers into one run.
Know your numbers
- Hotel KPI dashboard — occupancy, average daily rate (ADR), revenue per available room (RevPAR), length of stay, booking lead time, and cancellation rate, per property and over time. Updated automatically every night.
- Profit & Loss report — revenue and costs side by side. Close a finished month with period locking, and the reported figures can't drift afterwards.
Ask your data — Gurita's new AI connection
Gurita now plugs straight into AI assistants. A new MCP (Model Context Protocol) connection lets you point a tool like Claude at your Gurita data and ask questions in plain language — "what was my occupancy last month?", "which dive sites were busiest?", "how much is still outstanding?" — with answers pulled live from your bookings, sales, dive, and finance numbers.
- Read-only by design — the assistant can look at your reports and analytics, but it can never change a booking, a payment, or anything else.
- You stay in control — it's off until you switch it on, connects through a secure sign-in, and any connection can be revoked with one click.
- Available on premium plans — enable it under Settings → Active Modules.
Guest communication
- New notification center — decide exactly which automatic messages go out, and to whom (guest, team, or both), with a live preview before you save.
- WhatsApp messages — reach your guests where they actually read messages. Booking confirmations and updates can now go out via WhatsApp.
- Four fresh email designs — Classic, Bold, Dark, and Editorial — all carrying your logo and colors.
- Fillable PDF forms — attach official forms (registration cards, dive association paperwork) that fill themselves out from the booking data.
- Folders for mail templates — finally some order in your template library.
For dive operations
- Boat maintenance & fuel log — record fuel and engine hours per boat, set service intervals per component (engine, compressor, …), and get an automatic reminder when a service is due. Includes a fleet overview and fuel/cost statistics with Excel export.
- New Dive report — a dashboard for your diving: dives by type, your top dive sites and top dive guides, a guide-by-site breakdown, and how average dive time trends over the season. A separate Employees tab counts every guide's dives by type, and you can print it with your dive-log templates or export it to CSV.
- Online shop widget — sell courses, gear, and packages directly on your own website, complete with basket and customer accounts.
Integrations: welcome to the Plugin Shop
All connections now live in one Plugin Shop page — integrations and payment providers together, each with a clear "connected / needs attention" status.
- New: WooCommerce — orders from your webshop flow into Gurita.
- New: HighLevel CRM — guests and their stay history sync automatically to your marketing tool.
- New: LittleHotelier import — switching to Gurita? Bring your bookings and guest list over via simple CSV import.
- Improved: Xero — a more reliable, more secure accounting connection.
- Secure card viewing — view credit cards from channel bookings through a secured vault page; the card data never touches Gurita.
And with the new Active Modules page, you switch individual Gurita features on or off — so your team only sees the menus you actually use.
Gurita speaks your language
New this half-year: Spanish, Chinese, and Indonesian, plus refreshed French and Italian translations. Every team member can work in the language they're most comfortable in.
Quality of life
- Upload multiple files at once, crop images right in Gurita, and enjoy a better media picker.
- Group pricing — prices that automatically step down as the group gets bigger.
- Blackout dates for products — exclude dates when an offer shouldn't apply.
- Sort your product lists the way you want them.
- Per-user currency — every team member sees amounts in their preferred display currency.
- No-show handling — mark a guest as a no-show at check-in: the room frees up in your occupancy view, while the booking and billing stay intact.
- Moving guests between cabins no longer triggers unnecessary availability warnings.
Faster and safer
Less visible, but you'll feel it:
- Performance — new database indexes, faster availability checks, and a modernized interface make everyday work noticeably snappier.
- Security — two dedicated hardening rounds (a full code audit in May and a patch series in July), stricter verification of incoming payment and channel notifications, and IP restrictions for channel connections.
- Dozens of bug fixes — including the Flywire payment button, media library refresh issues, and several POS edge cases.
That's the roundup! Log in, take a look around — most new features can be enabled under Settings → Active Modules. Questions, or want a walkthrough of any of these? Drop us a message — we read every one.
